The Caracas Leones had very little trouble at the ballpark downing the Burbank Tigers. The score was 7 to 1. Caracas took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 3 runs using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Austin Kearns got things rolling when he drew a walk. One out later, Eric Young stepped up to the plate and he singled. Mike Maroth then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch. Mark Loretta was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Gary Sheffield stepped into the box and laced a base-hit scoring two baserunners. Carlos Delgado kept things alive and delivered a single scoring the final run of the inning. That scoring would be all that was needed. Caracas managed 8 in their victory. Roger Clemens(12-7) was the winner allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Scot Shields earned the save, his 12th. Maroth(11-8) was hit with the loss.
